MM&H were retained to retrieve valuable watches that were stolen and sold to claimed BFP's. A well-established watch dealer was conned into giving high end merchandise to agents of imprisoned con man on representations that they would be prominently used in a new music video of Jay-Zee and Beyoncé. Watches worth several hundred dollars were in fact taken by agents to pawn shop that did not follow due diligence in investigating backgrounds of party seeking to pawn the item as required by Florida Pawnbrokers’ Statute and reasonable due diligence requirements.
In collaboration with the US Attorney, MM&H obtained favorable decision from the federal court finding that the Pawn Shop did not establish bona fide purchaser status and therefore the watches were returned to Audemars Piguet.
