So many attorneys I know come off the heels of their bonuses and wonder why they still wake up in the morning feeling as though someone is standing on their chest. Or who got promoted to partner a couple of years ago and wonder why there is still a nagging voice of discontent whispering to them every day.

I recently bought a sign reads “If not now, when?” to hang on my wall – a daily reminder that the only thing that is real is this moment. A daily reminder that life is short, and it’s time to get busy living.

I cannot promise that my firm is going to be a panacea. Complex commercial litigation is still complex commercial litigation. Opposing counsel is still opposing counsel. Clients are still clients (and by that I mean the most amazing, perfect people around). Maybe commercial litigation is not right for you. But there are a lot of you out there that chose her/his career wisely. That enjoy solving clients’ problems during some of the most stressful points of their lives, that love to fight, love to win and love the law. And yet…

Here’s what I can promise you: (1) we are going to pay you fairly for both your time and your originations; (2) you are going to be expected to get your work done and to work hard, but you are never going to be implicitly or explicitly expected to bill tons of hours; (3) you are going to have a voice; (4) you will become part of a values-driven team, building something lawsome.

If you are reading this from a BigLaw firm, odds are that you are going to take a pay cut from your base salary. That’s because your hourly rate is absurdly high (as you know) and you are working like a dog. You wouldn’t be the first former BigLaw attorney we hired. If you have a real book of business, I’ll bet you lunch that you’ll make more money with us. I know – leaving a job is hard. And you’ve “invested so much time and social capital in your job.”

If not now, when?

If you think you’re a great candidate, send me an email and let’s have lunch or coffee or a conversation.
