“They’re compelled to be social animals by virtue of being elected,” Etan Mark of Mark Migdal & Hayden said. “In the world we live in, it’s completely absurd that Facebook friendship should be a basis for disqualification.” Mark said there are some regulations in Florida dating back to 2009 suggesting that these types of social media relationships are inappropriate, but he noted that much has changed in the social media world in eight years. “Florida is behind,” he said. “I think it’s time for Florida to get with the times.”
